TWO DSHS STUDENTS ADVANCE TO UIL CX DEBATE STATE TOURNAMENT

The Dripping Springs High School CX Debate team put together a strong showing at the district meet on Jan. 25 in Kerrville, competing against teams from Boerne Champion HS, Kerrville Tivy HS and Veterans Memorial HS. Junior Katherine Mihaly and senior Jackson Kaiser won the meet with an undefeated 5-0 record and will advance to the UIL State Tournament. The tournament will be held virtually March 19-20. Both Mihaly and Kaiser are accomplished debaters for DSHS. In 2020, both qualified for the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament, as well as the Texas Forensics Association State Tournament. DSHS was the only school to advance more than one team to the elimination rounds as junior Eli Craddock and sophomore Reed Mohon placed third and the freshman team of Jackson Berthelsen and Zoe Costanza finished fourth.

El equipo de debate CX de la preparatoria Dripping Springs High School CX tuvo una fuerte participación en el encuentro a nivel distrito el 25 de enero en Kerrville, compitiendo contra equipos de las preparatorias Boerne Champion HS, Kerrville Tivy HS y Veterans Memorial HS.

Katherine Mihaly de tercer año y Jackson Kaiser de ultimo año ganaron la competencia con un record de 5-0 y avanzan al torneo estatal UIL. El torneo se llevará a cabo de forma virtual el 19 y 20 de marzo. Mihaly y Kaiser tienen experiencia en debate con DSHS. En 2020, ambos calificaron para el torneo nacional de la asociación de discurso y debate, y para el torneo estatal con la asociación forense de Texas.

DSHS fue la única escuela que avanzó a más de un equipo a las vueltas eliminatorias con los equipos de Eli Craddock (3er grado) y Reed Mohon (2º) que salieron en tercer lugar y Jackson Berthelsen y Zoe Costanza de primer grado que terminaron en cuarto lugar.
