SSMS AND DSE PTAS RECEIVE NATIONAL DESIGNATION

August 11, 2021

The PTAs (Parent-Teacher Associations) from Sycamore Springs Middle School and Dripping Springs Elementary have received the designation of National PTA Schools of Excellence for 2020-22. This honor recognizes the commitment of school PTAs to building an inclusive and welcoming school-community where all families contribute to enriching the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. The designation is made for a two-year period following a process that involved a series of steps including surveys of families and staff, a plan to improve the family-school partnership, and a final application. Only 351 PTAs and schools nationwide have been designated as 2020-2022 Schools of Excellence. The PTA presidents for those two campuses in 2020-21 were Rachel Seshan (SSMS) and Skylar Badger (DSE).

National PTA School of Excellence is a recognition program that supports and celebrates partnerships between local PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. By enrolling in this program, the PTA and school administrators are making a year-long commitment in identifying and implementing an action plan for school improvement. Through the School of Excellence program, PTAs and families become key partners in decision-making and school improvement efforts. The program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-drive decisions that yield positive, long-term results.

Previously, the Rooster Springs Elementary PTA was recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence in 2019; that designation runs through 2021.

To celebrate their achievements, National PTA presented the SSE and DSE PTAs with certificates and National PTA School of Excellence banners. For more information about the National PTA School of Excellence program, visit PTA.org/Excellence.
