PTA REFLECTIONS STATE QUALIFIERS ANNOUNCED

The creative work of many Dripping Springs ISD students entered in the 2020-21 PTA Reflections program have been evaluated based on artistic merit, creativity, mastery of the medium, and interpretation of the theme. Sixteen students received an Overall Award of Excellence and will move on to the 2021 Texas PTA “Reflections” State Contest, while several others were chosen to receive district-level honors.
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National, Texas PTA and Dripping Springs local PTAs urge students at all grade levels to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice, reflecting on a specific theme. This year’s theme was “I Matter Because.” Pieces were selected to represent DSISD from various grade divisions (Primary, Intermediate, Middle, and Senior) and categories (Dance Choreography, Visual Arts, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Film Production).
Students who have earned Overall Awards of Excellence and qualified for the state contest, along with the title of their entry, grade level and school, are listed below.
Dance Choreography:

Additional district awards were presented as well. At the primary level, two were honored in Visual Arts: Amelia Grace Callas (RSE) with the Award of Excellence and Brooklyn Barnett (WSE) receiving honorable mention. At the intermediate level, seven students were recognized. Janelle Goodwin (DSE) won in Award of Excellence in Visual Arts. Earning Awards of Merit were: Kylar Boyd (DSE, Music Composition), Liza Engles (RSE, Photography and Visual Arts), Maisy Lindsey (RSE, Music Composition), Eyan Sebastian (RSE, Visual Arts), and Annie Sutherland (WSE, Visual Arts). Victoria Lee (DSE) received honorable mention in Literature. Four middle school entries received district Awards of Excellence: Alana Sayger (SSMS, Music Composition), Eben Sebastian (SSMS, Photography), Izzy Verhulst (SSMS, Music Compsition), and Addison Waller (SSMS, Music Composition).
The DSISD Council of PTAs is still determining how to best present and share the various entries with the public.
ALUMNOS DE DSISD CALIFICAN PARA EL EVENTO ESTATAL DEL PROGRAMA “PTA REFLECTIONS”
El trabajo creativo de muchos alumnos de Dripping Springs ISD ingresados en el programa Reflexiones de la PTA 2020-21 ha sido evaluado en base al mérito artístico, la creatividad, el dominio del medio y la interpretación del tema. Dieciséis alumnos recibieron un Premio General a la Excelencia y pasarán al concurso estatal “Reflexiones” de la PTA de Texas 2021, mientras que varios otros fueron elegidos para recibir honores a nivel de distrito.
El programa Reflexiones de la PTA Nacional anima a los estudiantes de todas las edades y habilidades a explorar y participar en las artes. A través del programa, la PTA nacional, la de Texas, y la PTA local de Dripping Springs instan a los alumnos de todos los grados a crear y presentar obras de arte originales en el medio de su elección, reflexionando sobre un tema específico. El tema de este año fue "Yo importo por qué." Se seleccionaron piezas de varias divisiones de grado (primaria, intermedia, media y superior) y categorías (coreografía de danza, artes visuales, literatura, composición musical, fotografía, y producción cinematográfica) para representar a DSISD.
Los alumnos que obtuvieron premios generales de excelencia y calificaron para el concurso estatal, junto con el título de su entrada, grado y escuela, se enumeran en la sección de inglés arriba.
También se entregaron premios adicionales a nivel distrito. En el nivel primario, dos alumnos recibieron el honor en artes visuales: Amelia Grace Callas (RSE) con el premio a la excelencia, y Brooklyn Barnett (WSE) recibió mención honorífica. En el nivel intermedio se reconoció a siete alumnos. Janelle Goodwin (DSE) ganó el premio a la excelencia en artes visuales.
