DSHS WINS DISTRICT ONE-ACT PLAY CONTEST

The Dripping Springs High School Theatre production of “Woyzeck” captured first place at the District 26-5A One-Act Play competition last weekend in Boerne.

Five students earned individual honors for their performances. Rory Schaeffer-Preston, Colton Carroll and Ben Muscanere were named to the All-Star Cast while Alyssa Nimocks received honorable mention on the All-Star Cast. Lastly, Lila Robbins was named Best Technician.

The UIL One-Act Play contest is a competition where similarly sized Texas schools present an 18-40 minute play and may be adjudicated by a panel of three judges or a single judge. At each level of competition, a judge awards individual acting awards as well as selecting three productions to advance to the next level of competition up to the regional level where only two will advance to the state competition.

DSHS will now advance to the bi-district competition that will be held March 24 at Rouse High School in Leander.

DSHS GANA EL CONCURSO DE OBRAS TEATRALES DE UN SOLO ACTO A NIVEL DISTRITO

La producción de “Woyzeck” del programa teatral de la preparatoria Dripping Springs High School obtuvo el primer lugar en la competencia de Obras de un Acto a nivel distrito 26-5A el fin de semana pasado en Boerne.

Cinco alumnos obtuvieron honores individuales por sus actuaciones. Rory Schaeffer-Preston, Colton Carroll y Ben Muscanere fueron incluidos en el elenco de estrellas, mientras que Alyssa Nimocks recibió una mención de honor en el elenco de estrellas. Por último, Lila Robbins fue nombrada la mejor técnica.

El concurso UIL One-Act Play es una competencia en la que las escuelas de Texas de tamaño similar presentan una obra de 18 a 40 minutos y puede ser adjudicada por un panel de tres jueces o un solo juez. A cada nivel de la competencia, un juez otorga premios de actuación a individuales y selecciona tres producciones que avanzan al siguiente nivel de competencia hasta llegar al nivel regional, de donde solamente dos avanzarán a la competencia estatal.

DSHS ahora avanza a la competencia bidistrito que se llevará a cabo el 24 de marzo en la preparatoria Rouse High School en Leander.
