DSHS TENNIS ATHLETES ADVANCE TO UIL STATE TOURNAMENT

Dripping Springs High School tennis players Whitney Robbins and Henry Lovelace will advance to the UIL State Tournament after finishing second at the Region IV-5A Tournament on Wednesday, April 28, in San Antonio. The duo began the regional with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Floresville High School’s Samantha Fehse and Jorge Moran in the opening round. Robbins and Lovelace wrapped up day one of the tournament with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sharyland Pioneer’s Alyssa Cantu and Angel Martinez in the quarterfinals.
The DSHS pair continued their dominant run the following day with a 6-2, 6-3 semifinal win over Corpus Christi Flour Bluff’s Kara Owens and Hunter Lazenby. In the title match, the duo fell just short of a regional championship with a 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 setback to Georgetown’s Sam and Zach Miller. Robbins and Lovelace closed out the tournament with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Boerne Champion’s Sophia Raimondo and Maddox Wilfong to secure second place and a state tournament berth. The boys’ doubles pair of Corbin Adcox and Aidan Johannsen recorded a third-place finish at the regional tournament to finish as state alternates. Adcox and Johannsen advanced to the championship match but were bested by Alamo Heights’ Robert Hunt and Balin Patel with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat. With a state tournament spot up for grabs, the DSHS duo fell short of advancing with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 loss to McAllen Memorial’s Diego Salvo and Arshaan Auf. The UIL State Tournament will be held May 20-21 at the Northside Tennis Center in San Antonio.
ATLETAS DE TENIS DE DSHS AVANZAN AL TORNEO ESTATAL UIL
Los tenistas de la preparatoria Dripping Springs High School, Whitney Robbins y Henry Lovelace, avanzan al torneo estatal UIL después de terminar en segundolugar en el torneo de la Región IV-5A el miércoles 28 de abril en San Antonio.
El dúo comenzó la regional con una victoria 6-1, 6-0 sobre Samantha Fehse y Jorge Moran de la preparatoria Floresville High School en la primera ronda. Robbins y Lovelace concluyeron el primer dÃa del torneo con una victoria por 6-1, 6-1 sobre Alyssa Cantu y Angel Martinez de Sharyland Pioneer en los cuartos de final.
La pareja de DSHS continuó su carrera dominante al dÃa siguiente con una victoria en las semifinales de 6-2, 6-3 sobre Kara Owens y Hunter Lazenby de Corpus Christi Flour Bluff. En el partido por el tÃtulo, el dúo estuvo a la altura de un campeonato regional con un revés 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 ante Sam y Zach Miller de Georgetown. Robbins y Lovelace cerraron el torneo con una victoria de 7-5, 6-1 sobre Sophia Raimondo y Maddox Wilfong de Boerne Champion para asegurar el segundo lugar y una plaza en el torneo estatal.
La pareja de dobles masculinos de Corbin Adcox y Aidan Johannsen registró un tercer lugar en el torneo regional para terminar como suplentes estatales. El Torneo Estatal UIL se llevará a cabo del 20 al 21 de mayo en el centro Northside Tennis Center en San Antonio.
