DSHS SOPHOMORE NAMED TGCA GIRLS' SOCCER ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Dripping Springs High School girls’ soccer player Caroline Dill has been named the Girls’ Soccer Athlete of the Year by the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA).

The sophomore goalkeeper helped lead the Lady Tigers to their first state championship with a 2-1 win over Frisco Wakeland High School in the UIL Conference 5A title game on April 16.

Dill allowed just one goal in district play as DSHS rolled to a 15-0-1 record, outscoring district opponents 52-3. Dill also allowed just one score in the playoffs with the lone goal coming in the state title match. In the state championship, Dill made five saves to earn Tournament MVP honors.

Dill joined Texas Lutheran University signee Charleigh Phipps and the DSHS back line in allowing just eight goals on the season. The Lady Tigers posted 24 shutouts on the season en route to setting a school record for wins with a 27-1-1 overall record.

La jugadora de fútbol femenino de la preparatoria Dripping Springs High School, Caroline Dill, ha sido nombrada Atleta de Fútbol Femenino del Año por la TGCA (Texas Girls Coaches Association).

En posición de portero, Caroline ayudó a llevar a las Lady Tigers a su primer campeonato estatal con una victoria por 2-1 sobre Frisco Wakeland High School en el juego por el título de la Conferencia 5A de la UIL el 16 de abril.

Dill permitió solo un gol en el juego de distrito cuando DSHS alcanzó un récord de 15-0-1, superando a los oponentes del distrito 52-3. Dill también permitió solo un puntaje en el desempate con el único gol del partido por el título estatal. En el campeonato estatal, Dill hizo cinco salvamentos para ganar el honor de Jugador Más Valioso del Torneo.

Dill se unió al fichaje de la Universidad Luterana de Texas, Charleigh Phipps, y la línea de fondo de DSHS para permitir solo ocho goles en la temporada. Las Lady Tigers registraron 24 blanqueadas en la temporada en camino a establecer un récord escolar de victorias con un récord general de 27-1-1.
