CHILD NUTRITION DEPARTMENT HONORED FOR "FARM FRESH CHALLENGE" EFFORTS

The Dripping Springs ISD Child Nutrition Services Department has been honored with a "Best of the Bunch" award for its participation in the 2019 Farm Fresh Challenge, sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). The challenge was to "Eat Local, Teach Local, and Be Social." By participating in the challenge, students at all four DSISD elementary schools were offered more local products in support of Texas agriculture and local businesses on Farm Fresh Fridays.

DSISD purchases local produce from the Farm to Table program, and also procures other food items that are grown in Texas. The TDA will officially honor DSISD in May at its first MegaCon conference.

DSISD's Child Nutrition Department is led by Director John Crowley and Supervisor Nanci Freeborg.

El DEPARTAMENTO DE NUTRICIÓN INFANTIL DSISD ES RECONOCIDO POR SUS ESFUERZOS EN EL PROGRAMA "RETO FRESCURA DE GRANJA"

El Departamento de Servicios de Nutrición Infantil de Dripping Springs ISD ha sido honrado con el premio "Best of the Bunch" (mejor del grupo) por su participación en el reto de utilizar productos frescos de granja (Farm Fresh Challenge 2019), patrocinado por el Departamento de Agricultura de Texas (TDA). El desafío era "comer local, enseñar local, y ser social." Al participar en el desafío, cada viernes durante el programa se ofreció a los alumnos de las cuatro escuelas primarias de DSISD más productos frescos locales como apoyo a la agricultura de Texas y los negocios del área.

DSISD compra productos locales del programa de la Granja a la Mesa y también adquiere otros alimentos que se cultivan en Texas. La TDA honrará oficialmente a DSISD en mayo en su primera conferencia MegaCon.

El Departamento de Nutrición Infantil de DSISD está dirigido por el director John Crowley y la supervisora Nanci Freeborg.
