CORONA CHOSEN AS 5A-6A SOFTBALL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Dripping Springs High School softball player Camille Corona has been named the 2018-19 5A-6A Softball Athlete of the Year by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. This is the first time ever that a DSHS softball player has received this honor.
As a senior this spring, Camille batted .650 with an on-base percentage of .699 and slugging percentage of 1.034. She hit hour homeruns, had 14 triples and five doubles, 27 RBI and 74 runs scored. In 117 at-bats, she only struck out four times. Camille’s career batting average was an amazing .522.
An infielder, Camille was the District 25-5A Most Valuable Player after being named Defensive MVP last year. She was a three-time selection to the All-District First Team. Camille received all-state honors from both the Texas Girls Coaches Association and the Texas Sportswriters Association as a sophomore and junior (this year’s not yet released). The Austin American Statesman selected Camille as the Newcomer of the Year in 2016 and as a member of the All-Centex First Team in 2018 after being on the All-Centex Second Team in 2017 (2019 honors not yet announced). She also has been named to the Academic All-District Team for three consecutive years and is a member of National Honor Society.
Camille is headed to UT to play for the Longhorn softball team this fall.
The Lady Tigers, coached by District 25-5A Coach of the Year Wade Womack, advanced to the regional semifinals this season.

Camille Corona, jugadora de softbol de la preparatoria Dripping Springs High School, Camille Corona, fue nombrada Atleta de Softbol del Año 2018-19 5A-6A por la Asociación de Entrenadoras de Texas. Esta es la primera vez que un jugador de softbol de DSHS recibe este honor.
