DSISD STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN MATH PENTATHLON
Numerous Dripping Springs ISD students competed in annual Math Pentathlon competitions this spring, and many received special honors. Math Pentathlon is a program of interactive problem-solving games, supportive curricular and instructional activities, and assessment tools for students in Grades K-7 that is administered by the Pentathlon Institute, a non-profit educational organization.
Competitions are divided into three elementary divisions: Division I for Kindergarten and first-grade students, Division II for second- and third-grade students, Division III for fourth-and fifth-grade students, and Division IV is for sixth- and seventh-grade students. The events were held on four Saturdays in April and May over a two-month period, depending on division.
A total of 111 students from DSISD’s four elementary schools (Dripping Springs Elementary, Rooster Springs Elementary, Sycamore Springs Elementary, Walnut Springs Elementary) and Sycamore Springs Middle School competed in the events, and many were honored with special recognitions. One student received Hall of Fame Gold recognition, seven earned Gold Medals, 10 received Silver Medals, 10 received Bronze Medals, and 16 students earned Honorable Mention.
Sycamore Springs Elementary second-grader Zane Lowman was recognized with the Hall of Fame award, the program’s highest honor.
Earning Gold Medals were: Ansh Bhargava (RSE), Michael Gearing (SSMS), Andrew Havlick (RSE), Andrew Kastner (SSE), Anthony Keithly (DSE), Grayson Norton (SSE), and Jacob Pool (WSE).
Earning Silver Medals were: Benjamin Branyon (SSE), Cooper Calvert (SSE), Charlie Ianiro (RSE), Kadence Ibarra Conde (WSE), Ian Jensen (RSE), Alexander Nestlerode (RSE), Susan Nestlerode (RSE), Max Sedlmeyer (WSE), Jaiden Stankard (SSMS), and Elizabeth Vest (SSE).
Bronze Medals went to: Ignatius Anderson (WSE), Kieran Fox (RSE), Wyatt Frey (SSE), Carson Funk (RSE), Grant Funk (SSMS), Greyson Gomez (SSE), Jax Lightbourn (RSE), Corbin Meyer (SSMS), Kylie Spence (SSMS), and Wyatt Spence (RSE).
Receiving honorable mention were: Blake Bassford (WSE), Dylan Daniels (DSE), Cole Detwiler (SSE), Beckham Eubank (DSE), Audrey Funk (RSE), Ella Gump (DSE), Prentice Harris (SSE), Jack Krisch (DSE), Colbie MacPherson (DSE), Jake Maring (RSE), Finnegan Parker (RSE), Colin Santengelo (SSE), Eyan Sebastian (RSE), Swaby Singhai (WSE), Cassie Stoddard (RSE), and Isaac Surface (SSMS).
Staff sponsors Sharlyn Bammel, Gay Klassen and Paula Mathews, as well as parent volunteers Linda Alvarez, Julie Funk, Ivan Nestlerode, Tracy Parker, Rachel Seshan, coordinated this enrichment activity for DSISD students.
ALUMNOS DE DSISD PARTICIPAN EN EL PENTATLÓN DE MATEMÁTICAS
Numerosos alumnos de Dripping Springs ISD compitieron en el pentatlón anual de matemáticas esta primavera, y muchos fueron premiados. El pentatlón anual de matemáticas es un programa de juegos interactivos de resolución, actividades instructivas y de apoyo curricular, y herramientas evaluativas para alumnos de grados Kínder a séptimo administrado por el Instituto Pentathlon, una organización educativa sin fines de lucro.
Las competencias están divididas en tres divisiones primarias: la División I para Kínder y alumnos de primer grado, la División II para grados segundo y tercero, la División III para grados cuarto y quinto, y la División IV es para alumnos de sexto y séptimo grados. Los eventos tomaron lugar durante cuatro sábados los meses de abril y mayo, dependiendo de la división.
Un total de 111 alumnos de las cuatro escuelas primarias DSISD (Dripping Springs Elementary, Rooster Springs Elementary, Sycamore Springs Elementary, Walnut Springs Elementary) y la secundaria Sycamore Springs Middle School compitieron en los eventos, por lo que muchos recibieron honores y reconocimientos.
