WRESTLING THIRD AT REGIONALS; TWO REGIONAL CHAMPS AND SEVEN STATE QUALIFIERS

At the UIL Region 4-5A Wrestling Championships Feb. 15-16, Dripping Springs High School placed third as a team (boys) and had two regional champions. The Tigers amassed 143 points as a team, finishing behind Leander Glenn High School (162.5) and Cedar Park High School (159.5). Chase Warden and Clayton Jetton were regional champions and a total of seven wrestlers (six boys and one girl) qualified for the state tournament.
Warden was the champion in the 145-pound weight class. In the title match he recorded a major decision over Julian Delgado of Corpus Christi King High School by a score of 10-0. Warden is undefeated this season with a 31-0 record. Also bringing home a regional championship for DSHS was Clayton Jetton at 195 pounds thanks to his 6-0 decision over Kallon Guyton on Leander Glenn High School. Jetton's season record is 44-4.
Other top-six finishers and state qualfiers for the Tigers were: Brodie Dyer (third at 120 lbs.), Tony Quevedo (fourth at 152 lbs.), Luke Norton (fourth at 160 lbs.), and Jefferson Guerrero (fourth at 170 lbs.). In addition, the first-ever female wrestler for DSHS, Cat Miller, was fourth in the 119-pound class and will move on to the state tournament.
The state wrestling tournament is Feb. 22-23 in at the Berry Center in Cypress.

En los campeonatos de lucha regionales UIL 4-5A, del 15 al 16 de febrero, la preparatoria Dripping Springs High School terminó en tercer lugar como equipo masculino y tuvo dos campeones regionales. Los Tigres acumularon 143 puntos como equipo, terminando después la preparatoria Leander Glenn HS (162.5) y la preparatoria Cedar Park HS (159.5). Chase Warden y Clayton Jetton fueron campeones regionales y un total de siete luchadores clasificaron para el torneo estatal.
Warden fue campeón en la categorÃa de 145 libras. En el partido por el tÃtulo, registró 10-0 sobre Julian Delgado de Corpus Christi King High School. Warden queda invicto esta temporada con un récord de 31-0. También capturó el campeonato regional para DSHS Clayton Jetton con 195 libras, 6-0 sobre Kallon Guyton de la preparatoria Leander Glenn HS. El récord de la temporada de Jetton es 44-4.

El torneo estatal de lucha libre es del 22 al 23 de febrero en el Berry Center en Cypress.
