DSISD MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN REGION CHOIR

Nearly 50 middle school students from Dripping Springs Middle School and Sycamore Springs Middle School advanced to the Texas Music Educators Association All-Region Choir and participated in the Region Clinic and Concert in Austin Feb. 9, 2019.

Several students were recognized as chairs on the three choir classes: 7th/8th Grade Tenor/Bass Chorus, 8th Grade Treble Choir and 7th Grade Treble Choir. The following students were selected as first chair: Anika Chalak (SSMS), Gracie Kirk (DSMS), Amelie Lawrence (SSMS), Daniel McIver (DSMS), Portia Schafer-Preston (SSMS), and Colin Tuohy (SSMS). Ariela Barron (DSMS), Kate Nolen (DSMS) ,and Morgan Owens (DSMS) placed second. Aidan Milliron, Vaughn Segers (DSMS), and Anna Somervell (SSMS) were third. Other students who performed at the regional event in the 7th/8th Grade Tenor/Bass Chorus were: Irving Avila (DSMS), James Jones (DSMS), Cooper Lane (SSMS), and Owen Racis (DSMS). Performing with the 7th Grade Treble Choir were: Gabrielle Andstrom (DSMS), Brenna Berry (SSMS), Lauren Brunett (SSMS), Ariana Cisneros (SSMS), Hannah Collins (SSMS), Samantha Garafolo (DSMS), Lauren Hearne (DSMS), Madison Johnson (SSMS), Abil Kuykendahl (DSMS), Valerie McCaul (DSMS), Kate Murphy (SSMS), Sway Paul (DSMS), Zoe Portewig (DSMS), Brenna Putnam (DSMS), Kaylee Ritchey (SSMS), Morgan Rockwood (SSMS), Erin Tello (SSMS), and Faith Wilcox (SSMS). Performing with the 8th Grade Treble Choir were: McKenna Bizjack (DSMS), Jesse Bookbinder (DSMS), Elisa Chiang (SSMS), Zoi Gilchrist (SSMS), Maeve Gore (DSMS), Allison Hill (DSMS), Jordan Huegeons (DSMS), Harley Hunt (SSMS), Elizabeth Pena (SSMS), and Caroline Siddons (SSMS). The Dripping Springs Middle School choir director is Penny Gabrielsen and the Sycamore Springs Middle School choir director is Rachel Marquez.

Casi 50 alumnos de secundaria de Dripping Springs Middle School y Sycamore Springs Middle School avanzaron al evento Texas Music Educators Association All-Region Choir y participaron en la clínica y concierto regional en Austin el 9 de febrero, 2019.
