TEN PIECES ADVANCE TO STATE VASE CONTEST


Dripping Springs High School was well-represented at the area/regional VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) competition last weekend in San Marcos. The event is sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association. DSHS students presented their work and defended their pieces in front of a judges’ panel; entries were given scores ranging from 1-4.

Of the pieces entered, 43 Dripping Springs pieces medaled by receiving Superior ratings of 4, which is considered “all-region” recognition. Ten of those entries then were named “all-area,” which means those students have qualified for the state competition.

Students who earned medals were: Gabrielle Avena, Karlee Carter, Emelia Chavez, Skylar Daniel, Charlotte Duguay, Julia Harris, Hailey Kirkup, Kaylee Longo, Allison McFadden, Halia Papion, Claudia Tello, Anya Thomas, Isabelle Avena, Payton Berry, Jade Berry, Vasi Bjeletich, Sarah Bouckley, Sarah Collins, Cat Covatta, Emily Dart, Maya Diaz, Morgan Dunham, Cameron Duran, Cayla Gillis, Royce Heflin, Sydney Hetherington, Katie Hilton, Jade Howe, Madison Lewis, Megan Marquez, Kora Meyers, Jacob Pederson, Emma Rodrigue, Angie Silva, Aurora Sloan, Jordan Wills, Megan Wolter, and Kyndall Womack.

The 2018 State VASE competition will be held April 27-28 at San Marcos High School.

DIEZ PIEZAS AVANZAN A LA COMPETENCIA ESTATAL VASE

Dripping Springs High School fue representado en la competencia VASE de área y regional el fin de semana pasado en San Marcos. El evento es patrocinado por la asociación de arte educativo de Texas. Alumnos de DSHS presentaron sus obras y defendieron su trabajo ente un panel de jueces; las obras recibieron calificaciones del 1 al 4. De las piezas presentadas, 43 obras de Dripping Springs recibieron medallas con puntaje Superior de 4, considerado un reconocimiento “all-region”. Diez de las obras fueron nombradas “all-area,” avanzando a la competencia estatal.
