HI-STEPPERS WRAP UP SUCCESSFUL COMPETITION SEASON


The DSHS Hi-Steppers recently concluded a successful competition season, earning multiple awards and honors at three events.

Most recently, at the Crowdpleasers DFW Classic, the squad received the third-highest scoring routine out of 117 total performances in Team Open. In addition, they received Officers Contemporary and Team Open Artistry Awards, which were two of the top four awards presented, The officers also placed in Modern and were among the top five officer scoring lines. Natalie Green placed seventh overall as a soloist for 9th/10th grade.

At the Danceline Central Texas Regional, DSHS Officer and Team received Grand Champion and Platinum Sweepstakes. The Officers placed first in Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary and the Team placed first in Lyrical, Jazz, and Open. The Team also won: Judges Award-Technique Team Lyrical, Judges Award Artistic Expression Team Open, Judges Award Favorite Routine of the Day Team Lyrical, and Danceline Gold Team Lyrical (highest score in category). Individually, Jillian Bohuslav was third in overall high school solo and Natalie Green placed among the top five soloists.

At the HTE Hill Country Regional, the Hi-Steppers won first place in Team Jazz, Lyrical and Open, as well as in Officer Modern. The team and officers won a Choreography Award. Margaret Marable was the third-place 11th/12th Grade soloist; Hope McFarrin and Natalie Green were third and fourth, respectively, in 9th/10th Solo.
