MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS MAKE ALL-REGION CHOIR
Students from both Dripping Springs Middle School and Sycamore Springs Middle School were named to the 2017-18 Texas Music Educators All-Region Choir. The selections were based on students' performances in front of five judges who ranked them on vocal technique, melodic and rhythmic accuracy, and overall musicianship at the regional event Jan. 27.
Named to the Eighth-Grade Treble Choir were: Aubrey Canaan (SSMS), Kaylee Cormack (DSMS), Ashley Dunn (DSMS), Kenleigh Embrey (DSMS), Isabel Fernandez (SSMS), Sloan Handley (DSMS), Kenna McAlester (DSMS), Daisy McComas (SSMS), Keeley Reese (SSMS), Sarah Schorp (DSMS), Ana Smith (SSMS), and Abby Wingrin (SSMS).
Earning spots on the Seventh-Grade Treble Choir were: Taylor Anderson (SSMS), Serena Cuzze (DSMS), Madison Fort (SSMS), Allison Hill (DSMS), Margot Helzel (SSMS), Harley Hunt (SSMS), Hailey Jarvis (SSMS), Kyen Meyhew (SSMS), Kate Nolen (DSMS), Portia Schaeffer-Preston (SSMS), Caroline Siddons (SSMS), Avery Vickrey (DSMS), Lauren Winston (DSMS), Jayden Wright (DSMS)
DSISD students on the Boys' Choir were: Grayson Dunham (SSMS), Kevin Keithley (DSMS), Brody Lane (SSMS), Daniel McIver (DSMS), David Perez (DSMS), Vaughn Segers (DSMS), Joshua Staggs (DSMS), Cole Thomas (DSMS).
Several students also placed among the top five in their classes, earning special recognition by placing among the top five in their sections. From Dripping Springs MS, Sloan Handley placed first overall for the eighth-grade soprano section, Kate Nolen placed first overall for the seventh-grade alto section, and Sarah Schorp placed third overall for the eighth-grade alto section. From Sycamore Springs MS, Portia Schaeffer-Preston placed first overall in the seventh-grade soprano 1 section, Abby Wingrin was second overall for eighth-grade alto and Brody Lane placed fifth overall for the Tenor 2 section.

Alumnos de ambas secundarias Dripping Springs Middle School y Sycamore Springs Middle School fueron nombrados al coro toda regional de educadores de música en Texas 2017-18. Las selecciones fueron basadas en el desempeño de los alumnos frente a cinco jueces quienes los evaluaron en su técnica vocal, precisión melódica y rÃtmica, y talento musical en general en el evento regional el 27 de enero.

Varios alumnos salieron entre los cinco más altos de su clase, ganando un reconocimiento especial al quedar entre los cinco principales de sus secciones. De Dripping Springs MS, Sloan Handley salió en primer lugar general para la sección de soprano de octavo grado, Kate Nolen salió en primer lugar general para la sección de alto de séptimo grado, y Sarah Schorp salió en tercer lugar general para la sección de alto de octavo grado. De Sycamore Springs MS, Portia Schaeffer-Preston salió en primer lugar general para la sección de soprano 1 de séptimo grado, Abby Wingrin sacó segundo lugar general en alto de octavo grado y Brody Lane sacó quinto lugar general para la sección tenor 2.
