NEW DISTRICT APP AVAILABLE
In late November, a new district app was introduced that connects with the new website that was rolled out before school started in the fall. The free DSISD app is available at the Apple store and on Google Play. For those who had the district’s old app, please delete it then install the new one.
The new app has several customized features. First of all, parents should click on the SETTINGS icon to indicate for which campuses they would like to see Calendar and News items. Parents may click on the icon labeled “STUDENT INFO,” which will prompt a log-in to their Family Access account. Once initially logged in, two basic pieces of information will be readily available: library book status and bus stop information. Next time the app is being used, an icon with the student’s name will be displayed.
A few notes on other icons…
A TIP LINE feature is included that allows students or parents to report concerns about bullying or other social issues. The name of the school must be included, and it is requested that details of an incident being reported include location, time, date, and any available information about who was involved to help administrators investigate. Tips can be made anonymously or with a name.
The STAFF DIRECTORY icon leads to a district-wide directory, but it can be filtered by campus or department.
The SCHOOLS icon leads to campus websites, as well as addresses and front office phone numbers.
ONLINE PAYMENTS connects with both PayPAMS (meal payments) and the DSISD Webstore (child care, theatre tickets, transcripts, etc.).
The NOTIFICATIONS icon is tied in with the emergency notification system through Blackboard and will display both attendance alerts as well as emergency or time-sensitive messages.
The app should make it easier to locate information from the district website while using a mobile device. The full website also has a “responsive design” so that it should adjust to various screen formats.
EL NUEVO APP DEL DISTRITO
Esta semana, hemos introducido un app que conecta con el nuevo sitio web que fue lanzado antes del comienzo de clases en el otoño. El app DSISD es gratis y se encuentra disponible en la tienda Apple y en Google Play. Para aquellos que tenían el app del sitio web anterior, favor de eliminar el viejo e instalar el nuevo.
El nuevo app tiene varias facetas que pueden ser personalizadas. Primero, los padres de familia deberán seleccionar el ícono en SETTINGS para indicar de cuál escuela desean ver el calendario y las noticias. Los padres de familia pueden seleccionar el ícono para información del estudiante “STUDENT INFO,” el cual les pedirá inicien la sesión en su cuenta de Family Access. Una vez en Family Access, habrá dos piezas de información disponibles: el estado de cuenta de su alumno en la biblioteca e información sobre la parada del autobús escolar. La próxima vez que se utilice el app, aparecerá un ícono con el nombre de su estudiante.
Unas notas sobre los otros íconos…
Un TIP LINE o llamada para asuntos de “bullying” u otros temas sociales. Debe ser incluido el nombre de la escuela, y se pide que los detalles del incidente a ser reportado incluyan el lugar, fecha, hora, y cualquier otra información sobre quienes fueron involucrados para asistir a los administradores en su investigación. Los tips pueden ser anónimos o se puede dejar el nombre.
El ícono del directorio de personal STAFF DIRECTORY lleva al directorio de todo el distrito, pero puede ser filtrado por escuela o departamento.
Los íconos de las escuelas SCHOOLS van al sitio web de cada escuela, muestran la dirección de la misma y los números telefónicos de la oficina.
Para hacer pagos ONLINE PAYMENTS conecta con ambos PayPAMS (pagos de comidas) y la tienda en línea DSISD Webstore (cuidado infantil, boletos de teatro, transcripciones, etc.).
El ícono de notificaciones NOTIFICATIONS está atado a un sistema de notificaciones de emergencia a través de Blackboard y manda alertas de falta de asistencia al igual que mensajes de emergencia o de tiempo crítico.
El app debe facilitar la búsqueda de información en el sitio web del distrito desde un aparato móvil. El sitio web completo es de un diseño responsivo por lo que debe ajustarse a varios formatos de pantalla.
